ESPAD 2019

The seventh wave of data collection of ESPAD (European School Survey Project on Alcohol and other Drugs) was carried out in 2019 across 35 European countries, and 16-year-olds participated from 100.000 schools. As in previous years, the aim of the survey was to collect data on young people's smoking, alcohol and other drug consumption patterns - ensuring that data are comparable across countries and over time. In Hungary the survey is done by Corvinus University of Budapest. Leader of research: Zsuzsanna Elekes.

Following the wave of data collection in 2019, the ESPAD 2019 international and national reports were published in November 2020. The study presents the risk behaviours of adolescents and their background factors over a 25-year perspective. The Hungarian research report shows the prevalence of risk behaviours in 2019 and the related trends of recent years. The book details the background factors (family, school, health awareness, mental health, friends, leisure time) which may increase the likelihood of prevalence of risk behaviours. An innovation in the book compared to the research reports of previous years is that the prevalence of background factors is presented in detail.
